A happy Thanksgiving is wished for everyone!

Please enjoy and be grateful for all your family but be on the “safe” side too. I know you can’t eat with a mask on but please wear it when out and about where there are other people you don’t know. I read where now they say the mask is making a big difference about spreading the virus. But here on the horizon we are hearing that a vaccine is coming down the road to us. Count your blessings with your family and be safe.

Animal sanctuary to give away food

Circle of Love Animal Sanctuary in Hico will provide free pet microchipping and passing out pet food to those in need as long as supplies last in the parking lot next to Hico Mercantile Saturday, Nov. 28, from noon until 2 p.m.

Circle of Love is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of companion animals. In the past 18 months, the organization has helped keep 128 animals from starving or being killed or euthanized.

Circle of Love donates excess animal food to Hamilton Helpint Hands and Hico Activity Center.

Bacon Bash scholarship apps due Nov. 30

Bacon Bash Texas is taking applications for 2021 scholarships from children with Type 1 diabetes.

BBT has awarded 93 scholarships to children to receive Continuous Glucose Monitoring systems and attend diabetic camp since 2016.

HCT releases 2021 calendar

Just in time for Christmas, Hamilton Civic Theater has released a commemorative 2021 wall calendar.

“This year has been challenging for the Hamilton Civic Theater and we know we are not alone,” said HCT president Nicki Lamb.

Volunteers were in the process of preparing Doctor Cook’s Garden and The Last of the Guacamole Queens, the final play in the Red Velvet Cake Wars trilogy, when COVID halted the 2020 performance season.

Animal rescue opens, seeks homes for pets

Circle of Love Animal Sanctuary is an animal rescue located in Hico.

It is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization, a Bronze level member of Guidestar, and proud partner of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Doobert.

“Our sanctuary was built on the basis that everyone is at their best when helping others,” said Susan Weaver. “With that in mind, we rescue and rehabilitate abandoned, abused and unwanted animals and provide a safe environment for them to stay until they find their forever homes.”

AUSTIN — In the recently released November edition of Fiscal Notes, the Comptroller’s office examines the 2001 Texas Economic Development Act, created to give Texas a competitive edge in business location decisions and codified as Chapter 313 of the Texas Tax Code.

County grand jury returns indictments

Hamilton County Grand Jury has returned the following indictments:

Otis Tyson, 57, murder, tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, two counts.

Jeremy Mitchell, 42, burblary of habitation with intent to commit assault.

Omer Scaff, 54, assault family household member with previous conviction.

David Walter King, 31, possession of controlled substance PG1, one gram or more by less than four grams.

Gap part of wreath program

For the third year in a row, Cranfills Gap cemeteries will be part of the Wreaths Across America program.

The program coordinates laying wreaths on the graves of servicemen and women from the Revolutionary War to present day conflicts in more than 2,100 cemeteries nationwide and overseas.

Grover McMains began the program in Cranfills Gap after seeing an article in the Texas Co-Op Power magazine.

“I thought, ‘wouldn’t that be cool,’ so I called the number – this was somewhere around the beginning of November -- with no clue of what would be involved,” said McMains.
