KCLW coming back

KCLW 900 AM, under the new ownership of CTI Media Productions LLC, has announced the station is returning to Hamilton with classic country music in a few weeks.

“I grew up in a town about the size of Hamilton where having a radio station in a small town is a big deal,” said Shane Curington, CTI president.

“KCLW has a longstanding history in Hamilton, and we want to be part of that legacy.”

Community was an important factor in the decision to invest in the project.

HVFD fish fry set Aug. 29

Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department will have a fish fry Sunday, Aug. 29, from 11 a.m. until sold out.

The fund-raiser will be by donation and offer drive through take out or dine-in and be held at the fire station, 107 W. Henry.

Hamilton County Historical Museum

The Hamilton County Museum is having a Quilt Show on Sept. 4 after the Dove Festival Parade. Arts and crafts booths will be at the museum as well as a large display of vintage sewing, knitting and tatting notions. Hard to find items for viewing.

Judges will be on hand for the quilt contest. There is no cost to enter the contest. Bring a friend and check it out.

Admission is $10 and covers one ticket in the door prize drawings and one ticket in the Quilt drawing. Tickets for the Quilt drawing will be on sale that day.

Students get free lunch, school needs apps

Hamiltion Independent School District announced its policy last week that this school year, healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost.

Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-22 school year.

Court to repair roof, authorizes 911 district

Tuesday morning’s Hamilton County Commissioners Court topics of discussion were roof repair, creating a 911 Emergency Communications District and the NTIA Grant.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Dickie Clary addressed the roof leak at the courthouse.

Clary received a quote from Parsons Roofing Co. totaling a little more than $83,000. Clary said, “I have confidence in this roofing company that they will stand behind their work.”

Clary stated the annex roof is 12 to 13 years old and after inspection it appears to be in good shape.

Alzheimer’s Association offers caregiver program

In the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease, families face many new questions.

The Alzheimer’s Association of Central Texas will present a free session, Living with Alzheimer’s for Early-Stage Care Partners, Thursday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. on the campus of McLennan Community College in Waco.

TSU dairy center gets grant to help Texas producers

STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University’s Southwest Regional Dairy Center has received an almost $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

The grant will help initiate high-tech communications solutions to share research-based information gathered at Tarleton with producers and extension educators.
