Rejuvenation Station hosted its annual Back to School Haircuts Saturday for 75 students. Above Brad Fletcher cuts Grayson Fleming a cut. Hamilton Independent School District board of trustees Monday evening firmed up plans for the start of school by approving the student code of conduct, COVID protocols and insurance coverage and set a public hearing on the 2021-22 budget and proposed tax rate.

Fountain honors Sparks

Family and friends this week honored the late Ray Sparks by dedicating a water fountain/mister in Pecan Creek Park in his memory.

Hamilton’s first Economic Development Corporation director and former mayor, Sparks was instrumental in the creation of Pecan Creek Park.

Through his efforts, and with support of state legislative representatives, a $250,000 grant was obtained from the Texas Parks and Wildlife to make this dream a reality.

The 50 percent match for the grant was funded by citizens who provided money, hard work and resources to build the park.

Rider dies in 218 wreck

A 72-year-old Granbury man died in a motorcycle crash last Thursday near Pottsville.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety report, James Caver Price was driving a 2007 Vulcan Kawasaki southwest in Hamilton County on FM 218 about 5 ½ miles west of Pottsville near FM 1702 about 11:53 a.m.

He was reportedly traveling at an unsafe speed and was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Kawasaki left the roadway, entered the ditch and rolled over, landing on its right side.
