Bulldog Cheers to the bi-district hardball champs

On the heels of Cinco de Mayo, the Hamilton Bulldog baseball team stuck the bat on the ball like salt on a virgin margarita and licked Hawley in back-to-back bi-district championship contests by scores of 6-0 and 13-9 last Friday and Saturday in Cleburne.

TRIPLE CROWN - Senior Caleb Lengefeld will be returning to state in pursuit of a triple crown. The regional champion 3200 and 1600-meter runner, and regional 800-meter silver medalist, will first compete in the state 3200-meter run on Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by the 800-meter run at 5:20 p.m. and the 1600-meter run at 8:15. After day one of the 2A UIL State Golf Championships on Monday of this week at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin, the Hamilton Bulldogs were sitting in fourth position out of the state’s top 12 2A golf teams.

STATE BOUND GOLFERS - The 2022 Bulldog golf team, coached by O.J. Kemp and Maury Heers and led by senior duo Tyner Haile and Mason Guinn, will be leaving on a bus from Hamilton High School this Sunday at 11 a.m. for the Texas UIL 2A State Golf Championships. The Bulldogs will tee off at the state tournament to be held at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Following up on a District 12-2A title grab, Hamilton’s state bound golf squad, including Haile, Guinn, Garrett Guinn, Darby Craig and Davin Crouch, placed third out of the region’s top 16 teams at the 2A Region II Golf Tournament held April 18-19 at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris. Last season, the Bulldogs placed sixth overall at the state tournament. Four of Hamilton’s 2021 state competitors are returning to represent the Dogs in Austin this year with Hamilton’s newest addition, freshman standout Garrett Guinn, filling the shoes of 2021 graduate Denver Poe. Seniors rally in Lady Dog playoff bid
