Hamilton High School Cosmetology student Scarlett Wynne traveled to SkillsUSA Nationals competition in Atlanta in June. Wynne competed in Prepared Speech. “We fell short of the top ten,” said instructor Danna Farmer. “But, I couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments.” Scarlett returns to Hamilton High School this fall as a senior.

LET’S GO DOGS! The 2022-23 Lady Bulldog Cheer Squad attended UCA Cheer Camp on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station last week. Hamilton’s cheer team received coveted gold ribbons in each of their two evaluations, and senior Grace Killian earned a Pin-It Forward Award for outstanding spirit and leadership. The Lady Bulldog cheerleaders posed in front of Texas A&M University’s Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. A crown jewel of collegiate baseball stadiums, Blue Bell Park opened in February 2012. Much of the stadium’s masonry was completed by Hamilton’s very own P&S Masonry. ALL-STATE SOUTHPAW - In addition to Chase Weaver being named the District 7-2A Most Valuable Player, the junior southpaw was recently named to the 2A Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State first team as a pitcher. From the mound this season, Weaver recorded 145 strikeouts, an 11-2 record and an earned run average of .482. Facing 286 opposing batters in over 72 innings pitched, Weaver only walked 34 batters and held his opponents to a pedestrian .124 batting average. ROUGH & TOUGH - Hamilton was represented at LCU Team Camp on the campus of Lubbock Christian University by a pair of Lady Bulldog basketball teams last week. The varsity Lady Dogs posted an impressive 5-3 record over three days while in Lubbock and were eliminated from tournament competition on a buzzer beating shot by number one ranked Farwell. Hamilton’s junior varsity Lady Bulldogs fell to Borden County after playing five consecutive games with only six players on the roster. The young Lady Dogs posted a winning 6-2 record over three days of competition in Lubbock. Former Lady Bulldogs Karsyn Smyth and Morgan Mehaffey coached Hamilton’s varsity during the three-day camp, and manning the clipboards for Hamilton’s JV were former Lady Bulldog basketball standouts Leslie Pearcy, Dr. Robbye Lengefeld and Kristi Wagner. Hamilton’s three Bulldog basketball teams will close out summer league competition next Monday in Hamilton. Hamilton’s Varsity 1 squad will host Goldthwaite in the Hamilton Junior High Gym at 4 p.m., followed by a 6:30 matchup with Priddy in the Larry Eilers Gymnasium. The Bulldog Varsity 2 will play two games next Monday in the Larry Eilers Gymnasium, starting with a 4:50 p.m. tipoff against Comanche and an 8:10 p.m. night cap versus Priddy. The junior varsity Dogs will play Priddy at 4 p.m. in the Rock Gym, followed by a 5:40 contest versus Early in the Rock Gym. The JV will conclude their night and the season versus Dublin at 7:20 p.m. in the HJH Gymnasium. HHS Track & Field, setting the records straight

My name is Doug Franklin. I coached for 28 years, and 24 of those years were in track and field. I ran track in high school and for Ft. Carson’s 5 Army track team in Colorado. At Ft. Carson, we competed against all the universities and colleges from Colorado.
