REGIONAL BUSSIN’ - The awesome Bulldog and Lady Bulldog golf teams bussed to the Region II-2A Golf Championships in Ferris on Easter Sunday and tee’d off for the first round of regional competition on Monday of this week. The top three teams and top three individual finishers not on an advancing team will advance to compete at state in May. After round one on Monday, the Bulldogs were just two strokes out of state contention and were sitting tied with Hico in the fourth seat with a team score of 337. Lindsay was on top with a 309, trailed by Albany’s 325 and Valley Mills with a team tally of 335. Trailing Hamilton and Hico were Seymour (340), Cooper (349), Hawley (358), Olney (367), Chico (371), Celeste (375), Tolar (382), Honey Grove (385), Alba-Golden (397), Linden-Kildare (415) and Rivercrest (433). Mason Guinn paced the Dogs with an 80, followed by Tyner Haile with an 81, Garrett Guinn 84, Darby Craig 92 and Davin Crouch 99. Guinn and Haile were sitting in 14th and 17th position entering the final day of competition on Tuesday. A pair of Hico Tigers were leading the pack after day one. Reese Polk was perched atop the standings with a 72 on the first 18 holes, and Justin Giessner sat in second with a round of 74. The Lady Bulldogs posted a team best score of 443 on Monday and finished the day in eighth place behind Muenster (388), Quanah (397), Lindsay (418), Quinlan Boles (424), Bland (431), Wolfe City (437) and Olney (439). Trailing the Lady Dogs were Tolar (450), DeLeon (465), Hawley (466), Linden-Kildare (467), Cooper (469), Rio Vista (477) and Rivercrest (506). Campbell Lengefeld shot a team leading 104, followed by Grace Carson 105, Fernanda Olalde 116, Braylee Wilson 118 and Karah Niemann with a 121. Lengefeld and Carson resided in the 17th and 18th spots individually heading into day two of the regional tournament.
