Hamilton County Commissioners lifted the burn ban Tuesday morning but will leave it on the agenda for now. “It looks like with the damper weather, we can lift it for now,” said Precinct 4 Commissioner Dickie Clary, who voted for the action along with Precinct 3’s Lloyd Huggins and Precinct 2’s Keith Curry. Precinct 1 Commissioner Johnny Wagner voted against, and County Judge Mark Tynes abstained. The court authorized the City of Hamilton to take over maintenance of McCaleb Lane to Highway 281 and Park Road to County Road 101 and Curry to install culverts to Private Roads 16017 and 16019 in the Lanham Estates subdivision off Highway 1602. Commissioners discussed the county budget but there was discrepancy on numbers received from Hamilton Central Appraisal District. They recessed to call Richard Petree, who was not available. “I question the accuracy of these numbers,” Clary said. “They do not fit the calculation. If we don’t have numbers we can depend on, you can be certain I won’t vote for a budget again. This is not acceptable. I’m not pointing fingers; I just don’t understand.”
