Hospital workers face federal vaccine mandate

Hamilton Healthcare System employees have until Dec. 6 to get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine after a federal mandate was handed down by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) earlier this month.

“We are not mandating anything; CMS is,” HHS Chief Executive Officer Grady Hooper said Monday.

TSU slates holiday collage

The Tarleton State University Music Area will present its annual Holiday Collage at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium.

This year’s concert will include seasonal favorites “Sleigh Ride” performed by the Wind Ensemble, “Little Saint Nick” performed by the Texan Riders, and “Carol of the Bells” performed by the Chamber Choir.

The Percussion Ensemble will perform “All I Want for Christmas is You” with soloist Dr. Heather Hawk. The concert also will feature the Tarleton Symphonic Band, the Trumpet Ensemble and Texan Harmony.

Salvation Army bells start ringing Monday

The Salvation Army Red Kettles will be out in Hamilton County starting Monday.

“We will be ringing the bell this season at Brookshires and Dutchman’s Hidden Valley,” said organizer Sharla Wenzel. “We won’t always have enough people to man the kettles but they will be out in the open.”

According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s 2021 report, The Salvation Army was ranked second among America’s top 100 favorite charities.

Christmas celebrations begin Dec. 11

Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is ready to deck the halls as they prepare for a wonderland of spectacular events Saturday, Dec. 11.

The day’s events will start at 9 a.m. with vendors downtown near the courthouse along with businesses open for holiday shopping.

At 10 a.m. a Christmas parade will traverse around the square, adding to the merriment of the season. This year’s parade is themed Christmas movies, and the best float will receive a trophy.

Photos with Santa will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friends of Hamilton ISD’s annual Boots and Bling fundraiser will be in-person on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Circle T Arena; however, the silent auction fun has already begun!

Blending the traditional festivities of a steak dinner and live music with the flexibility and convenience bidders enjoyed during last year’s virtual auction, this year’s silent auction opened Sunday night. A link to the auction is available at friendsofhamiltonisd.com.
