Hamilton Historical Museum

Bells will be ringing

Salvation Army bells are ringing at Brookshires and Dutchman’s Hidden Valley. For those unable to visit these stores mail donations direct to Extraco Bank, P.O. ‘Our school is broken’

For some students, high school is all about straight A’s and letter jackets. They may regale the accomplishments of their youth with joy and pride for many years.

For others, it’s survival. They feel tortured for four years, and when they survive, they snatch their diplomas and never look back.

Survivors, and some representing those who did not survive, spoke out during public participation at Monday’s Hamilton Independent School District board of trustees meeting.

Goodfellows accepting monetary donations

Though toy giving for the Billingslea Wilson Goodfellow Christmas program has ended, monetary donations are still being accepted.

The Goodfellows rely on these donations to continue providing support for Hamilton families.

Last year, the organization made Christmas brighter for 88 families with 160 children. Each family receives a box of food and toys as well as vouchers for the children to receive coats and shoes.

Monetary Goodfellows donations can be made at the Herald-News or any local bank.

Christmas on the Square hosted by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce boasted high attendance and a wide range of Christmas activities for all ages. Even Santa was impressed and ushered in the annual parade. 

Donors bust record at Boots and Bling

More than $125,000 was raised during Friends of Hamilton ISD’s Boots and Bling on Dec. 4 making the eighth annual event one for the record books.

More than 200 people attended the event at Circle T Arena.

Attendees enjoyed appetizers from Wenzel Lonestar Meats, a steak dinner by Executive Chef Jonathan Salley and his team at the Crossfire Steakhouse and delicious desserts from Central Perk and Brookshire Brothers.

The silent and live auctions were packed full of generous donations from individuals and companies supporting the efforts of Friends of Hamilton ISD.
