STATE TEE TIME- Hamilton High School senior Karsyn Smyth was scheduled to tee off Monday and Tuesday at the UIL State Golf Tournament at The Legends Golf Course in Kingsland. Smyth qualified for state after shooting a two-day, 36-hole round of 186 three weeks ago at the Region 2-2A Golf Championships in Ferris. Hamilton’s District 12-2A champion and third-place Region 2-2A finishing Bulldogs are scheduled to play their state rounds in Kingsland Monday and Tuesday of next week. Coached by O.J.

Eagle Baseball is back

After the program was discontinued in 1986, Jonesboro High School baseball reemerged this season with a vengeance.

In their first playoff appearance in over three decades, the Eagles scattered 17 hits in an 18-4 win over Gordon in Hamilton last Thursday and followed it up with a bi-district clinching 7-6 victory over the Longhorns on Saturday at Fair Park.

Jonesboro will face the winner of Hubbard and Blum in the area-round of the playoffs. Hubbard defeated Blum on Saturday, 7-1.

Game two of the best of three bi-dsitrict series was scheduled for Monday.

The Hamilton Bulldogs made quick work of Stamford in the bi-district round of the baseball playoffs last week, shellacking the opposing Bulldogs by margins of 18-0 and 12-2 respectively in games played on Thursday and Saturday in Glen Rose.

On Thursday, Colby Bailey sat down seven batters on just 40 pitches through three innings of work.

Sophomore Caden Hopper closed out the final two innings and the victory, striking out five on 39 pitches.

Hamilton’s offense produced 15 hits in the win.
