The state-ranked Lady Bulldog volleyball team captured their 20th win of the season with a three-set victory at home on Tuesday of last week over Waco Connally. On Friday, the Lady Dogs hosted private school powerhouse North Central Texas Academy. After dropping back-to-back sets by scores of 25-20 and 26-24, the Lady Dogs rallied to win the next two 25-21 and 26-24 to force a f i f t h and final set. NCTA rebounded to topple the Lady Bulldogs 15-11 in the deciding game. With two matches remaining prior to the start of district, including a home match at 10 a.m. in Hamilton on Saturday versus Richland Springs and a 5:30 p.m. matchup next Tuesday at home against Blum, the Lady Bulldogs hold an impressive 20-5 overall record. Hamilton’s JV Black and Red squads both defeated Waco Connally in two sets last week, and the two teams combined on Friday to tackle NCTA in two decisive games by margins of 25-18 and 25-13. The teams will again combine forces to host Bluff Dale at 9 a.m. on Saturday before taking on Blum at home next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. In junior high action, Hamilton’s seventh and eighth grade A-team squads demolished De Leon, both in two sets, before competing in the McGregor PALs Tournament on Saturday. Hamilton’s eighth grade won the tournament, and the seventh grade Lady Bulldogs followed up a Stephenville JH Tournament Championship the Saturday before by placing second in McGregor. Hamilton’s eighth grade B-team took down Tolar last week in two games, and the seventh grade B-team fell to the Lady Rattlers at home in a pair of sets.
