The Bulldog tennis team brought home several medals after competing in Waco last Thursday. Hamilton swept the medals in girls doubles with Lainey Hale and Emiley Hale edging out fellow Bulldogs Trinity Haile and Elaine Polster in a down to the wire final match. Claiming the 3rd place medal in girls doubles were sophomores Sawyer Wright and Miranda Olvera. In boys doubles, Blake Pettit and Bradley Elkins claimed a 2nd place finish. Also bringing home a silver medal was Destyni Collett in girls singles.
Like senior baserunner Houston Tucker, pictured, the Hamilton Bulldogs are kicking up dust in the newly aligned District 6-3A. After falling to Coleman 7-6 in extra innings on Tuesday of last week, the Dogs clawed back for a 4-1 road victory over Comanche last Friday to move to 9-5 on the season and 3-3 in district. Hamilton’s junior varsity suffered a 7-1 loss in Coleman and a 10-2 loss to Comanche. The Bulldogs were scheduled to host Early on Tuesday before beginning the second round of district competition on Friday in Eastland.
Skylar Carr, pictured, belted a two-run homerun, and Payton Fields went two for three at the plate as the Lady Dogs manufactured seven runs off of seven hits in a 29-7 loss to Comanche on the road last Friday night. On the previous Tuesday in Coleman, the Lady Bulldogs fell 14-4 to the Lady Bluecats, despite recording eight team hits. The Lady Dogs are currently 0-8 in district with six games remaining. This week, the Diamond Dogs were scheduled to host Early on Tuesday and will travel to Eastland on Friday. Hamilton will again travel next Tuesday to Cisco.
-Following the Clifton Cub Relays last week, Hamilton High School track athletes will be competing at the district meet hosted by Dublin ISD this week with prelims scheduled for Monday and the finals set for Thursday. On Thursday, field event finals will start at 9 am, and the finals for running events, beginning with the 4x100 meter relay, will start at 1 pm. Hamilton’s junior high teams will travel to Comanche on Friday for district competition with the starting gun set to be fired for girls’ running events and the boys’ field events at 3:30 pm.
Hamilton’s high school golf teams are scheduled to play their first 18-hole round of district golf at Lakeside in Eastland this Wednesday. The second round will be held the following Wednesday, April 10, at the Hideout Golf Course in Brownwood. Hamilton’s Lady Bulldogs have made state tournament appearances in each of the past three years, and junior Matt Zschiesche will be vying for his third trip to the regional tournament, to be held at the Shady Oaks Golf Course in Baird on April 22-25, for the third consecutive year.
