Fly-In deadline April 29

The early registration deadline for Hamilton’s Fly-in 5K and 10K is April 29 for the May 6 event which will be held in conjunction with the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce’s May Days Festival.

Finley Grace tourney Saturday

This Saturday, golfers will gather at Perry Country Club for the second annual Finley Grace Memorial Golf Tournament. Flight times are 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., and check-in is 30 minutes prior to start times.

Council OKs most EDC expenditures

Hamilton City Council approved several Economic Development Corporation projects on second reading at the April 6 regular monthly meeting at City Hall but balked at a proposal for an alleyway and parking lot.

Haile named Citizen of Year

Don Haile, center, is Hamilton’s Citizen of the Year for 2022, as announced Monday evening at the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce annual banquet. He was surprised at the award and is pictured surrounded by family members Kolt Bennett, granddaughter Trinity, son Brian, wife Sylvia, granddaughter Tayte, son Brandon, daughter-inlaw Bridgette, son Bradley and daughter-in-law Ashley.

The regional-bound Hamilton High School One Act Play company will give an encore public performance of “You Can’t Take It With You” Friday at 7 p.m. Admission is $5. Regional competition will be Thursday, April 20, at 9:30 a.m. at Grayson College in Denison.

USDA adds assistance for distressed farmers

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that beginning in April it will provide approximately $123 million in additional, automatic financial assistance for qualifying farm loan program borrowers who are facing financial risk, as part of the $3.1 billion to help distressed farm loan borrowers that was provided through Section 22006 of the Inflation Reduction Act. The announcement builds on financial assistance offered to borrowers through the same program in October 2022.
