The American rancher has always been a critical worker

There’s no question COVID-19 has had an enormous impact on our country. We will continue to feel its effects for a long time, and, in some respects, it will likely have a permanent impact on our nation.

Despite the tremendous toll we have paid to combat the virus, I do see reasons for hope and optimism. For one, it has brought our country and communities closer together as we fight for a common cause. This isn’t an uncommon phenomenon after disasters. Politics and personal differences are put aside as communities pull together to help their own on the road to recovery.

Gov. Abbott allowing more reopenings

Governor Greg Abbott Tuesday afternoon announced several additions and guidance to his executive orders to open Texas.

Among them, funerals will be conducted under the same rules as religious services; wedding receptions will be conducted under the same rules as restaurants; water outings on rivers will be conducted under the same rules as parks and beaches; and outdoor seating at restaurants must be limited to 6 persons in a party and six-foot distancing between tables.

On behalf of the Hamilton Junior High and High School Drama Department, we want to thank you for sharing your talents and your generous donations to our Virtual Talent Show.

Our district-wide talent show was scheduled for Friday April 29th in the Chandler Craig Auditorium, but unfortunately, this event, along with so many other school events, had to be cancelled.

This Week in Texas History

A weary diplomat boarded the Independence at New Orleans on Apr. 7, 1837 for the last leg of the long trip back to Texas. Pressing business in the United States caused William H. Wharton to miss the Battle of San Jacinto, but he would at least be home in time to celebrate the first anniversary of Lone Star independence.
