I am having a hard time finding words for recent events. So many of my friends have put together something eloquent as a means of expressing themselves in the wake of the death of George Floyd and the protesting that has been going on the wake of this loss.

THE LAMB WHO WAS A LION #1

On that stormy Tuesday of controversy, before the Lord was crucified the following Friday, Jesus asks some of His antagonists: “...What think ye of Christ? whose son is he?” (Mt. 22:42). The Lord’s adversaries on that day were unable to satisfactorily answer the question for they did not understand the true nature of Jesus and His work. In like manner, there are many today who are still unable to answer this question adequately. For this reason no greater study than that of Jesus. It is important to understand that the more we know Jesus, the more we will love Him and remain faithful to Him.

COVID-19: What happens next is up to us

I am continuing to work with Governor Abbott, my fellow members of the Texas legislature and local leaders to safely open the Texas economy. What happens next will be in your hands and the hands of all Texans. Thus far, our rural district has not been hit as hard as other parts of Texas. But lives and livelihoods are still on the line across Gatesville. To save lives and to save businesses and jobs, all of us will have to stand up to the highest standard of what it is to be a Texan. We will all have to act carefully and responsibly as Texas re-engages the economy.

Back to the Bible

“When the fullness of time was come” God began the Christian Age through His Son, Jesus Christ (Gal. 4:4-5; Eph. 1:9-10). In future articles we will study more about Christ’s work to fulfill God plan. Suffice it to say, at this time, that Christ, through His teachings, life, death, and resurrection became “the mediator of the new testament” and began the new age prophesied by Jeremiah (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:6-13; 9:15).

The Bible consists of three dispensations of time: 1) The Patriarchal Age, 2) the Mosaical Age, and 3) the Christian Age. Each age is named after those to whom God revealed His will. In this first age, which dates from creation, God revealed Himself to the heads of families known as patriarchs, thus the name “Patriarchal Age.”

Steamboat Yellow Stone kept Revolution afloat

In a May 19, 1837 letter to the speaker of the Republic house of representatives, President Sam Houston pressed for full payment as promised to the captain and crew of the Yellow Stone and the rightful place of the steamboat in Texas history.
