More than 40 of Texas’ best and brightest journalists found a new favorite place in Hamilton as they attended the second annual joint North and East Texas Press and West Texas Press Association regional convention.
Because of a publication glitch, Hamilton Planning and Zoning Commission last Wednesday did not vote on a proposed Main Street overlay for the downtown square, but commission members were able to hear concerns about the proposal.
In 2019 Sue Weaver achieved her lifelong dream by opening the Circle of Love Animal Sanctuary on 50 acres that she had purchased between Hamilton and Hico. With her personal savings, and volunteers and donations from the community, she set about converting an old farmhouse into a cattery and building large outdoor enclosures with shelters for the many animals that came her way, everything from dogs to ducks and pigs to donkeys.
Evant Elk Luis Arellano broke a school record on March 24 in Blanket, posting a winning time of 18:00 in the 110-meter hurdles. The previous record 0f 18:15 was set in 1992 by Jody Nottingham. Evant Junior High was scheduled to compete in the District 12-1A Track and Field Championships this Wednesday in Blanket, and the district meet for Evant High School will be on Thursday in Zephyr beginning at 10 a.m. Courtesy photo
