Ann Whitt

Ann Whitt, 96, of Gatesville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at Focused Care Nursing Home in Hamilton.
Memorial services were Friday, Jan. 31, at Cedar Ridge Church of Christ with Minister Deral McWhorter officiating.
Anna Beth Whitt was born June 11, 1928, in the Plainview Community to Marrion and Lillian Harper Sanders. As a child, she went school in the Plainview Community and later attended high school at Pearl.
In 1945, she married Verdis Knox Whitt, and together they made their home in Gatesville.
Ann entered the workforce at the age of 18. She worked for Fort Hood Exchange Services, retiring after 25 years, and later for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Commissary Officer, retiring in 1990.
At 80, she continued to work for the Windham School District as a substitute teacher.
Anna was a woman of faith, who regularly attended Church of Christ services. She served as a Firebell for the Gatesville Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years and was also a faithful volunteer at the Gatesville Care Center. She enjoyed RVing and spending time with her friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Verdis Knox; brothers Harper Sanders and Francis Sanders; sisters Mabel Sanders and Ruth Barton; and great-grandchild, Alex Whitt.
She is survived by sons Jimmy Lee Whitt and wife Judy and George Danny Whitt and wife Janet; grandchildren, Terri Martin and husband Jamie, Jayson Whitt and wife Carolyn, Brandon Whitt and wife Danielle, Jamie Whitt and Ashlie Whitt; great grandchildren Brad Martin, Megan Geeslin, Cody Whitt and Julia Whitt; and numerous greatgreat grandchildren.
