Jack Boen, 86, passed peacefully from this life Friday, Oct. 11, 2024.

Funeral services celebrating Jack’s life were held Monday, Oct. 14, at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home, De Leon, with Brother Matt Morton officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery.

Jack was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Gorman to Andrew Truman Boen and Dessie Snider Boen.

He married Sharyn Morehead Boen May 18, 1958. They had a loving marriage of 39 years, and she preceded Jack in 1997. Jack later married Linda Kinsey, and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 25 years.

Jack was raised in the De Leon community and graduated from De Leon High School, Class of 1956. He was employed as a truck driver for an oil company for many years.

Jack loved music. As a teenager, he and his brother, Leon, along with a few school friends, formed a band called the Hillbilly Kids. The band won a trip to the 4-H National Convention in Chicago. Jack was an incredible upright bass guitarist and played many other instruments. He played with numerous bands throughout his life and gained many enduring friendships along the way.

Jack was a devoted husband to both Sharyn and Linda, a loving dad and granddad, special brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Boen; son Jackson Boen (Becky); daughter Janece Sheetz (Steve); stepsons David Kinsey (Cindy) and Cody Kinsey (Crystal); stepdaughter Kris Torres (Tommy); sister Shirley Quinn; grandchildren Sarah Lain, Hannah Schmitt, Jonathan Boen, Sky Torres, Roman Torres, Morgan Cogburn, Carissa Oglesby and Catherine Kinsey; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Jack was preceded by his first wife, Sharyn Boen; parents Andrew and Dessie Boen; son David Earl Boen; granddaughter Melanie Sheetz; brother Leon Boen; and sisters Elaine Boen and Nancy Boen.
