RB Kelly

Robert Browning Kelly (RB) passed away peacefully in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sept. 20, 2024.

Burial was in Black Mountain Veterans Cemetery, North Carolina.

RB was born in Hamilton April 16,1940, to Neal B. and Cloyse H. Kelly and was the seventh of nine children. He attended school in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1958.

Following graduation he enlisted in the Navy. He served honorably for 20 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. His military service and following career in technology included living in Spain, Germany, Scotland and Japan, as well as places within the U.S.

In retirement he enjoyed traveling and visiting family. He would tell you he had a great life and enjoyed it all.

RB was predeceased by his parents; wife Gayle; son Neal; brothers Bruce and Cecil; sisters Nena, Addie and Mary Lois; and grandson Conner.

He is survived by granddaughters Elissa Harrison, Shauna Zamora and Brina Boone; grandson Neal Kelly; eight great-grandchildren; brother Harrol Kelly; sisters Myrtle Turner and Carrol Kelly; special friend Barbara McCormick and many nieces and nephews.
