Ronnie Honeycutt
Ronnie Wayne Honeycutt, born Nov. 14, 1967, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, departed this life Aug. 29, 2024, in Hamilton.
He was a remarkable individual whose passion for music and vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.
As a founding member of the band Jackyl, Ronnie achieved notable success, contributing to the creation of award-winning albums. He was a member of the band Rufus Fontain.
In addition to his musical talents, he was dedicated to his entrepreneurial ventures. Ronnie owned Dougie Rays, a popular bar in Nashville, Tennessee, where he embraced the local music scene. He also ran Sound Dragon Recording Studio in Nashville, showcasing his skills as a sound engineer and songwriter, helping to craft numerous records over the years.
Ronnie married Julie Hawke while living in Nashville, and that union was blessed with two children, Allie and Ethan.
While his career in the music industry meant that his schedule was demanding, he did his very best to be present and engaged with his kids as they grew up. He was so very proud of them and wanted the world for them. While their paths ultimately took different directions and there were some years of distance, Ronnie carried his kids in his heart every day. He was so proud of how they grew into adulthood and became their own successful selves. He wished for connections but took solace in the satisfaction in knowing they were happy and living their best lives.
A graduate of Tuttle High School’s class of 1986, Ronnie attended the Francis Tuttle Technology Center, where he completed the Electrical Engineering program.
He was known for his friendly demeanor, intelligence and willingness to support others. With a knack for teaching, he inspired many with his creative thinking and adventurous spirit.
Ronnie had a passion for collecting guitars, with his favorite being one from the band Cinderella, and he took pride in his Ford F-350.
He cherished time spent with friends from across the country, sharing unforgettable memories, whether on music adventures or enjoying the great outdoors while hunting and fishing.
Ronnie spent the last 10 years with his wife Carrie. While they were classmates in high school, it was many years later that they were married March 3, 2017, in Austin. They enjoyed simple country living and entertained themselves attending concerts and music festivals.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Carrie Honeycutt; their nine children, Bryan Andrew and his wife Heather, Ethan Honeycutt, Allie Volner and her husband James, Jake Parrott and his wife Mindy, Morganne Arterberry, Tara Richardson, Dalton Richardson, Breanna Files, Nathan Nath and his wife Allie, and Ian Nath; he was also the proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren; his loving mother, Wanda Honeycutt; his brother Kelly Honeycutt and wife Suzanne mourn his loss; additionally, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever treasure the impact he had on their lives.
The legacy of Ronnie Wayne Honeycutt will be celebrated at a Celebration of Life 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at Tribute Memorial Care Southwest in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Ronnie leaves a vibrant imprint on all who knew him, embodying the best of what it means to love unconditionally, inspire those around him and pursue dreams with fervor. His adventurous spirit and kind heart will be missed but never forgotten.
