Minnie Vonceil (Casey) Guthrie, 95, of Hamilton went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 18, 2023, surrounded by those who loved her unconditionally.
Services were Saturday, July 22, at Riley Funeral Home, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
Vonceil was bom Aug. 23, 1927, to Minnie Mae (Craig) Casey and Charley Green Casey who have preceded her in death. She has always lived in Hamilton County.
Vonceil lived a full life, enjoyed reading the Bible and being with those she loved. She loved children and especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vonceil’s main goal in life was to be a mother to her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed cooking and has passed down several recipes that have been in her family for more than 100 years.
During her retirement years she enjoyed shopping and taking trips with her daughter, Alane Guthrie (who preceded her in death in 2013) and going with her granddaughters Stephanie Guthrie and Jessica Partin to Waco to housesit for her granddaughter, Paula Guthrie and Scott Calley. Vonceil was able to stay active and go shopping all day with her daughter Sheila (Guthrie) Tatum up until covid in 2020. She cherished her time with her son Evans Guthrie and visits with him brought joy to her heart. Vonceil always had a sweet tooth and one of her favorite things to have these last few years was a banana spilt blizzard from the Dairy Queen in Hamilton that her daughter Samantha Guthrie has managed for years.
Her brother Roland Casey always ensured she was up to date on the Hamilton news by taking her a Hamilton Herald- News every Wednesday. She looked forward to this weekly event.
She counted on her grandsons Tristen, Trevor and Treyden Tatum and son-in-law Kevin Tatum and grandsonin- law Jim Bob Partin to be her “muscle” any time she wanted something moved and repaired or if she just wanted a corn dog from Sonic, they were there for her.
Vonceil enjoyed talking to and looking at pictures with her great-granddaughter Shaleigh Byrom.
Vonceil’s son Chester Hartin lost his life too soon tragically in 1980. and this forever broke her heart. Her brother C.G. Casey preceded her in death in 2001, and she has missed him greatly. She suffered great loss in 2011 when her grandson Steven Guthrie passed away unexpectedly.
Vonceil is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a strong person who held those she loved close to her heart and touched the lives of many.
