Irene Zaruba
Irene Anna Jahns Zaruba, 92, of Hamilton peacefully passed on to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Visitation was May 6 at Riley Funeral Home. Services were Sunday, May 7, at St. John Lutheran Church, and burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Pottsville.
Irene was born Dec. 27, 1930, in Shive to Fred and Emma Jahns.
She met John Zaruba in Arlington, and they were married Aug. 31, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church. They moved to Hamilton after John’s retirement in 1991.
Irene enjoyed sewing, gardening, tending to her beautiful yard, traveling and cooking for family celebrations. She was a faithful Christian servant and enjoyed singing and playing hymns on the piano.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Emma; brothers Wilfred and Leo Jahns; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Zaruba.
Irene is survived by her husband John; their four children, Ronnie Zaruba and wife Kathy of Marlin, Karen Denham and husband Glenn of Arlington, Sandra Factor and husband Marc of Temple and Gary Zaruba and wife Theresa of Temple; two sisters and a brother, Margaret Kohler and husband Elton and Diane Brown and husband Stanley and Charles Jahns and Debbie; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Jahns and Barbara Jahns; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Memorial donations can be made to the Building Fund at St. John Lutheran Church 122 Cheyenne Mesa Hamilton, TX 76531.
Pallbearers were Bobby Camp, Brandon Camp, Blake Denham, Randy Pechal, Christopher Zaruba, Matt Zaruba, Jonathon Zaruba and Thomas Zaruba.
