Billy Manning
Billy Floyd Manning went to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2023. He passed away peacefully with family by his side.
A small service will be held in Hamilton at a later date.
Billy was born in Dublin in 1933 to Mark Doyle and Artie Faye Cole.
He was their third child. He graduated from Hamilton High School and went on to Texas Christian University. After graduating from TCU Billy joined the Air Force where he served with the 98 Air Refueling Squadron in the Strategic Air Command and retired with the rank of Captain. Shortly after his discharge he met Barbara Rude on a blind date. She was the love of his life, and they were married for 63 years. They lovingly raised three children.
His work took the family to Houston, Greenwich, Connecticut, Dallas and San Antonio, where he retired as President and COO from Alamo Cement Co. He greatly enjoyed his time with Alamo Cement and all the people he worked with.
In his time away from work he enjoyed taking the family out on the lake as well as golfing and bird hunting. After retirement, he explored photography and loved to travel, taking Barbara to many destinations abroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother MD Manning and sister Armena Faye Anderson.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; children Susan Converse, Michael Manning and wife Tonya and Kathleen (Keely) Moerschell and husband Rob; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces Peggy Anderson, Manette Scanio and Regina Ann Jackson; and many cousins.
Instead of customary remembrances please consider a donation to charity. Billy supported Wounded Warriors, Alzheimer’s Association and Humane Society.
