Rodney Brown
Rodney G. Brown, 73, passed away in his home in Hamilton Jan. 2, 2023.
Graveside services were Jan. 5 in Oakwood Cemetery.
Rodney was born April 27, 1949, to Otto Brown and Daisy Earline Clements Brown, in his family home right outside of Hamilton. He was the third child of four.
Rodney spent his younger days doing odd jobs like working at a fuel station or driving cars for Brumbalow Motors. He would also spend a lot of his time with his best friend Russell Gromatzky. After Rodney graduated from Hamilton High School, he remained in Hamilton working for the co-op for 40 years, retiring in 2011.
While working for the co-op, Rodney found Christ, causing him to throw down cigarettes and beer to become a man of God. He spent the rest of his life going to church at Living Hope or watching Jimmy Swaggart on TV. He was really proud of his decision, and thanked God every day for his many blessings.
Rodney spent his retirement days at his home in Hamilton. He spent his spare time in his garden, mowing the grass, watching TV or going to visit with lifelong friends. As he got older, he would need an extra hand around the house. He would hire high school boys to work for him until they graduated and moved on. He loved “His Boys” very much, willing to do anything in the world for them and was always there for them when they needed a hand, letting them know what God did for him and what he could do for them. He always loved when one of his boys stopped by to visit and catch up for a few hours, always leaving him with a big hug and tear in his eye.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Daisy Brown, and nephew Craig Brown.
Rodney is survived by his brothers, Wiley Brown and wife Betty, Artis Brown and Michael Gene Brown and wife Geneva; nieces Hailey Brown, Sandi Brown Guthrie and husband Mike and their daughter Jaqi Walt, and Melinda Brown; nephew Alex Thiele; and his boys, Brandon Taylor, Anthony French, Digger Amaro, Brennen Leach, Noel Cardenas and Lane Cantrell.
