Gene McFarlin

Mahlon Eugene McFarlin, Sr., 65, of Robinson, former Hamilton resident, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 5, 2021.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. The family will have a 1 p.m. visitation at the cemetery for those who wish to come early.

Gene was born Dec. 25, 1955, to Bill and Marjorie McFarlin in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Years later they moved to Hamilton where Gene graduated in 1974. He met Denise Salyers in 1975, and they married in 1977.

Gene went to the Dallas mortuary school and spent the rest of his career as a licensed funeral director in Rising Star, Stephenville and Waco, where he worked at OakCrest Funeral Home for many years.

Gene was preceded in death by his daughter, Meagan McFarlin; parents; step-parents; a brother and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Denise; son Mahlon McFarlin Jr.; grandchildren Brandon Amos, Jacob Egger, Adriana McFarlin and Kynnedi McFarlin; brothers Robert and Mike McFarlin; sister Phyllis Seider; and his nieces and nephews.
