Rita Buckner
Rita Faye Buckner, 89, of Hamilton, passed away on the afternoon of Nov. 22, 2020.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, at Barn Church with Rev. Bobby Stovall and Clint Davis officiating. Burial was in Murphree Cemetery in Evant.
Rita was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Ireland, Texas, to George W. and Vesta Faye Trammell Griggs.
She grew up in Evant and graduated from Evant High School. She married Monk Buckner in 1952. She stayed home and raised their family of six children and later worked at Wall’s Manufacturing in Hamilton for many years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Evant for most of her life and recently began attending and joined the Barn Church. She loved everyone, especially her family and grandchildren, and enjoyed reading, quilting and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Monk in 2005, son Billy Buckner, brother Ronnie Griggs and son-in-law Tom McGill.
Survivors include her children, Dalace McGill, Janis Stovall and husband Bobby, Wayne Buckner and wife Brenda, Sharon Woodlock, Faye Corrado and husband Steve; sister-in-law Alice Brown and husband Butch; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
