Almeda Cox
Almeda Cox, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 10, 2020, at her home in Austin that she shared with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born Sept. 14, 1937, in Abilene, the youngest of four.
“As the World Turns” and as it turned out, Almeda was a perfect 10. Almeda was a lifelong Texas native. The Staggs family found their way to Hamilton, and this is where she soared and developed some lifelong friendships.
Almeda loved gardening, visiting with friends, antiques and Keno. She was adored by all. Although she was skinny, she loved fried food. She worked for the federal government until retirement to provide for her kids. She went by many names, such as Red, Big Al, Foxy Momma, Nanny and Shadow, but the best name was Mom.
Her humorous nature and magnificent efforts to make everyone happy must be celebrated. For those that did not know Almeda, we are terribly sorry for your loss. She will be sorely missed.
Her ashes will be spread in Hamilton, her favorite place.
She is survived by her two daughters, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
