Bobby Thompson
Bobby Ray Thompson was born at the family home in Hamilton, Texas, on July 19, 1930. He passed away at Focused Care in Hamilton on April 14, 2020. Bobby was a member of Park Heights Church of Christ and treasured his church family.
Bobby was an excellent student and he was advanced a grade level in elementary school. He entered the Army in 1952 and he was honorably discharged in 1954. Some of his favorite memories were of the time he spent serving in Germany. After his discharge he owned and operated a plant shop and nursery. He then spent many years in the grocery business at Little’s Grocery in Littleville. His working career was completed with the telephone company where he maintained their building and landscape. In addition to his day jobs, Bobby worked at the Texan Theater serving some of the best pizza in town.
In his later years, Bobby spent countless hours volunteering at United Care and also watering the plants around Hamilton’s square.
Bobby loved feeding and studying birds and also growing plants. He was always propagating and looking for new plant varieties. He was well known for his beautiful lawn and bougainvillea.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, James H and Mamie (Easterling) Thompson; brothers; Cleo, J.H., Vernon, Billy and Hercel; sisters Chloe Nail and Betty Ogle; nephews Robert Thompson and David Harold Thompson.
He is survived by his caregivers Don and Pam (Thompson) Jones, Jimmie Thompson, and Tommy Thompson; sister–in-law Brenda Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
