James Weathers
James Edward Weathers passed away Oct. 18, 2019.
A memorial service is planned on Saturday, October 26, 2019 @ 10:00 AM at Living Waters Church in Hamilton. All who loved him are welcome to come and celebrate this wonderful man.
Mr. Edwards was born Jan. 5, 1932, to Leila Birdwell Weathers and Walter, “Watt” Weathers in the Weathers family home in Snyder in Scurry County.
Born into a vibrant ranching family, James, alongside his father, found his passion for ranching. The family; Leila, Watt and James moved to Hamilton in January 1952 where they established a ranching operation.
James worked as a traveling sales rep. for Moormans Feed in Comanche. He later became the owner/real estate broker of Southwest Realty in Hamilton. He was also a commercial cattle buyer for several large companies throughout Texas and Oklahoma.
James, also known to many as “Six Shooter” found his true calling and passion in life was being able to travel around the state, buying, selling and trading antiques and collectable cowboy memorabilia along with an extensive collection of John Wayne collectables.
Survivors include daughter Sherry Lynn Busby of Hamilton and grandson Josh and Brandi Weathers of De Leon; and daughter Kerrie Lee and husband Gene Barnet and grandsons Brandon and Ashley Barnet, Bryson Barnet and Jacob Barnet, all of Kerrville.
James was a staple of the Hamilton community and will be truly missed by his friends and family.
