Merlene Shockley

Clara Merlene Shockley went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 22, at her home surrounded by her family. Graveside Services were held Thursday October 25, 2018 at Murphree Cemetery.

She was a wonderful and loving wife, mama and grandma. Merlene was born on September 8, 1931 in Athens, Texas to Jesse Mathis and Myrtle Belle (Bowen) Mathis. On May 15, 1954 she married L.D. Shockley in Henritta, Texas. Merlene was a devoted military wife, making a home for her family wherever they were stationed. She later attended MCC and she worked as a medical transcriber and medication aide for many years.

Preceding Merelene into the arms of the Lord were her parents; brothers, Jesse L. and W.R. and her beloved son, Gary.

Merelene is survived by her husband of 64 years; a daughter, Pam and husband Scotty, one grandson; Cody and five great-grandchildren.
