Wanda Meehan

Wanda Sue Noland Meehan passed away peacefully in the home she loved on Monday May 13, at the age of 83, surrounded by her family. She led a wonderful and blessed life, and as painful as it is to lose her, we take comfort in the heavenly reception that awaited her, and that she is now at peace with her Savior.

She was born in Stephenville on December 30, 1940, to Floyd and Kathryn Noland, and grew up in the Blueridge community of Hamilton County. A country girl at heart, she grew up on the farm where she raised her horse, Lady. On Feb. 12, 1961, she married the love of her life, Dick Meehan and together they established a home in Carrollton where they raised a family and enjoyed many happy years. She made her home a gathering place where she welcomed the friends of her sons, many of whom she grew to love as her own. Hamilton always held a special place in their hearts, so upon retirement they returned to the small town they both loved and enjoyed 27 years of retirement until his passing in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard (Dick) Meehan; son James (Jim) Meehan; sisters Mary Thrash and Pat Basham; and many others whom she loved and adored.

She is survived by her faithful companion Keith Curry; sons Gregg Meehan and Chris (Kelly) Meehan; stepsons Dan (Susy) Meehan and Kevan (Pattie) Meehan; stepdaughter Karan Koonsman; niece Stacy (Jenny) Thrash; and nephew Scott (Teri) Thrash; and a host of friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Dr. Johnson and the staff at Hamilton Hospital, Wings Over Texas Hospice, the caregivers who lovingly cared for her during her final days, and the Curry and Hall families.

A visitation for Wanda was held Thursday, May 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home, 402 W Main, Hamilton.

A funeral service was Friday, May 17, with burial in Hico Cemetery.
