Wanda Dalton
Wanda Nell Jackson Dalton, 89, of Hamilton died Jan. 18, 2024.
A gravesite memorial for Wanda will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 10:30 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Her husband Joe passed in March 2020, and no services were held because of COVID. The family plans to honor both Joe and Wanda in a celebration of life luncheon immediately following Wanda’s graveside service.
The luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 215 W Main St.
Wanda was born Oct. 23, 1934, to James Hubert and Mabel Limmer Jackson. She was raised in the Hamilton area and married Joe Claud Dalton on July 14, 1953, with her father-in-law Elder Len Dalton performing the Rites of Matrimony.
In 1966, Joe and Wanda started Dalton Drilling Service to serve the Hamilton County area.
Wanda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hamilton and taught Sunday School for many years. She also excelled at cooking and baking and made several wedding cakes as gifts for her family.
Wanda was passionate about photography, and her beautiful work was shown in local galleries and in an art show.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents and her brother Jim Jackson.
She is survived by her son, Tom Dalton; sister-in-law Lynette Jackson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Solaris Hospice care and nursing staff. The family also thanks Hamilton Healthcare Center for their dedication to Wanda’s care over the past several years.
Memorial donations can be made to the Hamilton Public Library or to any Hamilton County volunteer fire department.
