Steve Schneider

Steven Milton Schneider, 70, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, after a one-month battle with stage 4 brain cancer.

Steve’s wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Hwy. 22 East at Cheyenne Mesa Road, Hamilton.

Steve was born Feb. 5, 1954, in Fort Worth to Melvin and Winnie Louise Schneider. He was a Lutheran and had a strong faith in God. He attended schools in Arlington and joined the U. S. Air Force on Dec. 15, 1971, served four years and received an honorable discharge.

He married Diane, his sweetheart, Nov. 25, 1972. They welcomed Stephanie, their precious daughter, into the world and their hearts in 1973.

After Steve’s military career, he worked at Graff Chevrolet in Grand Prairie for about 20 years as an auto body technician and estimator. Later, when Steve and Diane moved from Arlington to the family property he loved in Hamilton, he worked at Alexander Moulding Mill until he retired. Steve was a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge 183 in Arlington and a member of American Legion Post #487 in Priddy. He loved spending time with his family, friends and faithful dog Penny. Steve enjoyed driving country roads, baseball, riding motorcycles, boating, fishing, camping, hunting, playing golf, driving his tractor, smoking briskets and making sausage and beef jerky. He was a very special and talented man.

Steve is survived by Diane, his loving wife of 52 years; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Jay McDaniel; granddaughter Kayla and husband Brandon Schraub; grandson Dustin McDaniel; and great-granddaughters Britley, Marlee and Rayleigh, all of Hamilton; sister Kathy and husband Darell Tipps of Azle; brother- and sister-inlaw Bernard Jr. and Laurie Hlavaty; sisters-in-law Nancy Ivy and Karen Svacek, all of West; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Winnie Louise Schneider; inlaws Bernard Sr. and Betty Hlavaty; and brother-in-law Gary Hlavaty.

A Schneider Family Benefit fund has been set up in Steve’s memory at MC Bank, 1005 C E. Main, Hamilton, TX 76531.
