Randy Mayo

Randy Mayo went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Funeral will be held Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hamilton. Burial will be in Prairie Point Cemetery, in Bazette, near Kerens.

Randy was born Nov. 29, 1943, in Kerens. He attended high school at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio and graduated from Denison High School in 1962. He married the love of his life, Kay (Platt) Mayo in July 1966.

He was a devoted husband and father to their three sons. He worked most of his life on construction projects for H.B. Zachry and Brown & Root, but that was just what he did.

Who he was is better described by the many hats he wore along the way: Christian example, loving husband, caregiver to Kay when she was ill, Dad, Coach, friend, uncle, Papaw, volunteer for youth sports organizations and many more.

Randy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Kay Elaine Mayo; his parents, Ewen and Mayzelle Mayo; and his baby sister, Jeanie (Mayo) Leighton.

Randy is survived by his second wife, Sandy (Koontz) Mayo; his sons, Keith, Tim and Scott Mayo; six grandchildren, Heath, Landry, Mattie, Garrett, Easton and Jake; and his sisters LaDonna (Mayo) Martin and LaDalia (Mayo) Hellums.
