Paul Melvin

Paul Robert Melvin, a longtime resident of Austin and Hamilton County, passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2023 in San Antonio.

Funeral services for Paul Melvin were held Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton. Internment followed at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Pottsville.

Paul was born May 4, 1943 in Riverside, New Jersey to Russell and Margaret Griffith Melvin. He served in the Air Force and was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin from 1963 to 1967. He married Judy Oustad Melvin on October 31, 1970. They have two daughters, Carey Ell of Kingsland and Margaret Melvin of San Antonio. Paul was in the armored car, security guard, and private investigative businesses for many years throughout the state. He and Judy owned a farm in Hamilton County for over 30 years. He loved to RV, hunt, fish especially on the Texas coast and travel throughout the US and Canada.

Survivors include his wife Judy, and daughters Carey and Margaret, grandchildren Amber Ell, Lea Wright and Lane Melvin of Kingsland, Brayden McMahan of Lacey, Washington, and Madison McMahan of San Antonio. Also, sister in law Connie Meerschaert of Horseshoe Bay and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Barry Meerschaert, Dean Kuykendall, Jeff Kozlowski, Shawn Aldrich, Andy Melvin, and Russ Melvin. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Sheard, Larry Oustad, Audrey Yoes, Kristie Kuykendall, Jamie Kozlowski, Jake Kuykendall, Kacy Aldrich, Monica Davis, Rick Melvin, and Kathy Von Zehman.
