Patsy Ray

Patsy Ray, 83, of Ater passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018.

Funeral services were held Aug. 9 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. A.C. Painter officiating. Burial was in Ater Cemetery.

Mrs. Ray born Jan. 30, 1935, in Houston County to Joe Wilson Vaden and Lillie “Sis” Brown Vaden.

She attended school in Jonesboro before marrying R.B. Ray in 1952 in Levita. She attended the LVN program at Coryell Memorial Hospital and worked at local nursing homes, retiring in 2012.

She loved playing with her grandchildren, country living, including gardening, especially growing yellow roses and irises, canning, painting, raising chickens and helping her husband with farming and ranching. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband R.B. Ray; and sister Marilyn Bagwell.

Survivors include daughter Rhonda Morgan and husband Russell; son Don Ray and wife Theda; grandchildren Melinda Dossey, Donny Ray, Jody Ray, Amanda Reifler and Sandra Sanders; great-grandchildren Erica Guardiola Bermudez, Megan Horton, Veronica Dossey, Tommy Heneger, Rylan Laminack, Braylan Laminak, Zane Ray, Kenzley Ray, Sara McDonald, Jeep Sanders, Gage Sanders, Skyelar Sanders, Dutch Reifler, Emily Reifler and Jessica Key; great-great-grandchildren, AddiRose Laminack and Alexander Bermudez; and nephew Charles Scott Johnson.
