Nelda Murphy

Nelda Joyce Murphy, 70, of Hico, passed away Wednesday Oct. 25, 2023, at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 29 at Harvest Hills Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Murphy Family Cemetery, County.

Nelda Joyce McMillian was born to Jessie Loyd and Ester Flodean McMillian on June 29, 1953, in Dublin. She married Harold “Possum” Murphy Jr. on March 5, 1971. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Together, Harold and Nelda successfully founded and operated Murphy’s 24-Hour Wrecker Service since 1990.

Nelda was preceded in death by husband Possum, daughter Kristi, mother Ester, father Jesse and sister Gloria.

Survivors include daughter Kim and husband Scott; granddaughters Amanda and husband Kirk, Alicia and husband Derek, and Samantha; great-grandchildren Aiden, Emma, Daniel, Tessa, Hailea, Mia, Ryhleigh and Isaac; and many loved ones.
