Maxine Wenzel
Emmalene Maxine Wenzel, 90, of Hamilton passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, in Gatesville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hamilton with Pastor Aaron Kalbas officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Aleman. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. prior to the service at St. John Lutheran Church.
Maxine was born April 8, 1933, in the Tonkawa community, near Pottsville in Hamilton County to the late Mack and Ermine Smith Taylor. She grew up and attended school at Carlton, where she graduated in 1951. On July 15, 1950, she married the love of her life, Raymond Wenzel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aleman. They lived their entire married life in Hamilton County.
Maxine was a loving and devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and greatgreat- grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and working on their farm and ranch. She and Raymond had many close friends and relatives and loved to engage in “hot games” of 42 and 84 dominoes. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond Wenzel in 2018; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wenzel; and a sister, Lou Rovetto.
Maxine is survived by two daughters, Brenda Faubion and husband Tommy and Karen Grisham and husband Robert, all of Gatesville; six grandchildren, Jason Faubion, Shelly Boyd and husband Torrey, Carrie Jones and husband Joe, Jeffrey Grisham and wife Jennifer, Melissa Wiecker and husband Randy, and Lindsey Brindle and husband Jacob; 16 great-grandchildren, Macie, Sarah, Josie, Hunter, Jed, Cooper, Ethan, Gracie, Noah, Nate, Claire, Jaxon, Abby, Emma, Katelyn and Shepherd; one great-great-grandchild, Zayde; brother-in-law Clarence Wenzel of Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
