Margaret Massingill
Margaret Ann Massingill, 90, of Jonesboro died Jan. 25, 2020.
Funeral services were held Jan. 28.
Margaret was the adopted daughter of the late David and Bessie Massingill. She grew up and attended school in Hamilton County. She married Paul Massingill Jan. 10, 1948.
Paul preceded her in death on March 14, 2014. They had shared 66 years of life together. They made their home and lived in the Hamilton and Jonesboro communities almost all their married life.
Four children were born to this union, Billy Wayne, Johnny, Pam and Kenny.
She was a licensed nurse and worked in the Hamilton General Hospital for approximately 20 years. She was very involved in the Jonesboro school during the 24 years her children attended school there. She was an active member of the Evergreen Baptist Church for many years.
She also served on the board of directors as secretary / treasurer for the Evergreen Cemetery Association for 20 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother and helpmate to her husband.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, John Paul Massingill, and her sister, Joan Balusek.
Survivors include her four children, Billy Wayne Massingill and wife Mary and Johnny Edward Massingill and wife Pat, all of Jonesboro, Pamela Ann Massingill Thomas and husband Mike Lundstrom of Eastland and Kenneth Charles Massingill of Flat; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
