Leona Bolm
Bertha Leona Bolm went to be with her Lord on Oct. 23, 2024.
Visitation and services were Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Riley Funeral Home. Burial was in Hurst Ranch Cemetery at Star.
She was born on June 19, 1925, to Annie Joy and Ed Hergotz in rural Travis County.
Leona’s love of the land, animals and nature in general began very early in life. She grew up helping her dad on the farm. She continued to live in the country for most of her almost 100 years of life.
She married William (Bill) Arthur Bolm in 1946, who preceded her in death in 2008.
They are survived by two children. They raised their children in Georgetown, only moving from there to their land near Evant in 1972. They made many good friends around Evant and were members of First Methodist Church in Evant.
One of Leona’s favorite things was hay hauling time when they had local high school boys haul hay. Ms. Leona is remembered by them for the hot lunches she served and especially the homemade ice cream.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Annie Hergotz, her husband Bill Bolm, sisters Lucille Mehner and Mary Huff and grandson Sam Bolm.
She is survived by daughter Sandy Moore and husband Gerry of Evant and son Eddie and wife Judy of Burnet; sister Margaret Tubbs and husband Tilvern of Austin; grandsons Brad Bolm and wife Shay of Lampasas and Scot Bolm and wife Courtney of Burnet; great-grandchildren Avery Bolm and Hadley Bolm of Lampasas and Creid Bolm and Rypp Bolm of Burnet.
Serving as pallbearers were Brad Bolm, Scot Bolm, Hadley Bolm, Creid Bolm, Martin Mehner and Larry Venable. Honorary pallbearers were Tilvern Stubbs and Rypp Bolm.
