Jimmie Thompson
Jimmie Don Thompson passed away Jan. 1, 2024. Funeral services were Jan. 5 at Scott’s Funeral Home with interment in Restland Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 2, 1943, to J. H. and Lorene Thompson in Hamilton. He grew up in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1961. He obtained a masters degree from the University of North Texas in Denton. Jimmie Don worked at the State School for Boys early in his career and then worked as a probation officer in Coryell County for 35 years, later becoming Chief Probation Officer. He served as an Army Reservist during Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, serving our country for 35 years.
Jimmie Don loved sports and played softball in the local area well into his 50s. He enjoyed going dancing with his wife, Barbara.
Kids, grandkids and friends loved hanging out at Mamaw and Papaw’s house.
Jimmie Don is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons Kyle Thompson and wife Kari, Ronnie Herbelin and wife Liz and Ricky Herbelin and wife Susie; daughter Sherri Bone and husband Matt; grandchildren Emily, Eric, Garrett, Tiffany, Patrick, Katy and Jonathan; great-grandchil- Kason, Derek, Layton, and Blakely; brother Tommy Wayne Thompson; and sisters Pam Jones, Kellie Thompson- Billingsley and Lea Ann Rea.
