Jim Ervin
James L. Ervin, 80, passed away peacefully in his sleep Sept. 23, 2018, in Rockwall.
Graveside services were held Sept. 27 in Acton Cemetery under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home.
Mr. Ervin was born in Harrison, Arkansas, Dec. 20, 1937, to John and Vickie Ervin, the seventh of eight children.
He attended Harrison High School and graduated from The University of Arkansas in 1960.
After graduation, he moved to Dallas and was employed by Republic National Bank as vice president until 1979. He and his family relocated to Lake Forest, Illinois, where he became president and CEO of Coldwell Banker Relocation. He then was named president and CEO of Equitable Relocation until his retirement in 1988.
Jim held the position as Chairman of the Board of World Christian Broadcasting and president of the Dallas chapter of the U of A Alumni Association. He was a dedicated member, deacon, elder and bible teacher in churches of Christ in Texas, Illinois and Florida.
Upon retirement, Jim and Charlotte moved to their ranch in Hamilton County, where he spent his time ranching, traveling the world, supporting his church and attending his grandkids’ activities.
He was passionate about the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Dallas Stars, serving his church, three children and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Charlotte Wilkerson Ervin; children Scott Ervin of Rockwall, Elizabeth Ervin Schweik and husband Rick of Mansfield and Courtney Ervin Kraner and husband Rob of McKinney; sisters Essie Ervin Tate and Helen Ervin Clavey of Harrison; and nine grandchildren, Seth, Sydnee, Sarah Beth and Sophee Ervin, Connor and Griffin Schweik and Keaton, Kylie and Koen Kraner.
