James “Jim” Webster Buster, 72, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at Providence Hospital in Waco.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, in Ater Cemetery with Josh Pruett officiating.

James was born June 17, 1948, in Llano, the son of Cecil and Edith (Kays) Buster. He graduated high school in 1966. After high school he worked for Chaparral Steel and Cargill in Midlothian. He then worked for the Midlothian Police Department while attending Navarro College in Corsicana, where he received his associates degree in Criminal Justice. When the Hamilton Police Department closed, James went to work for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department. He was named Captain of the Sheriff’s Department and retired with 25 years of service.

Jim had tremendous pride in protecting and serving the people and communities. After retirement he ran a mail route in Pottsville.

In January 1971, he married Cindy Pruitt. Upon marrying Cindy, he gained a daughter, Tammy Wallace, and in 1973 they became parents to their son, Christopher Buster.

Then on Jan. 22, 1983, he married “blue eyes” Lisa Mitchell, the love of his life. They became parents to David Buster and Casey Buster Whitehead.

Jim was a Christian man of faith, a beloved husband, father, brother, papa, uncle and friend to many.

The last few years of his life if you saw Jim (Papa), you saw at least one of his grandchildren if not all of them. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his son, Christopher Buster and wife Lauren and their two children of Moody, son David Buster and wife Cynthia and their three children of Lubbock, daughter Casey Whitehead and husband Todd and their four children of Lampasas; step-daughter Tammy Wallace and husband Paul of Kingston, Oklahoma; sisters France Grizzle of Mansfield, Christine Grizzle of Hamilton and Sandy Frost of Dublin; brother Willie and wife Shirley of Waxahachie; sister-in-law, Linda Buster of Jonesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Mitchell Buster; parents Cecil and Edith Buster; brothers Jack Buster and Teddy Buster; and three brothers-in-law.

Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they shall be called the children of God.
