Jerry Whitehead

Jerry Floyd Whitehead, 81, of Hamilton, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 23, 2024.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Riley Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life at the Lions Club.

Jerry was born in Dublin Dec. 23, 1942, to Cecil and Mignon Whitehead. He graduated from Fairy High School before joining the US Army, where he served in Vietnam.

He met and married the love of his life, Mary Ann Gandy, and they had two children, Danny and Sabrina.

As a kid he had a pet albino skunk. His love for odd pets grew as he got older and began to rescue baby squirrels. He named one of his pet squirrels Scrappy and enjoyed sharing his Cheetos and sweet tea while watching TV.

Jerry enjoyed being with family and going to church. He spent most of his free time playing with his great-grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife, Mary Ann; daughter Sabrina Clark; and a sister, Martha Blackwell.

He is survived by his son, Danny Whitehead; two grandchildren, Chris Clark and Bridgette Taschek; brother Ted Whitehead; two sisters, Barbara Mckandless and Sandra Lane; four great-grandchildren; and lots of cousins, nieces and nephews.
