Jane Thetford

Nancy Jane (Griffis) Thetford, 90, died in Stephenville Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, due to dementia.

Visitation will be held at Carlton Baptist Church Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Thetford was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Indian Gap, where she went to school and graduated with the last graduating class of 1947, as salutatorian. She was an outstanding basketball and tennis player.

On Dec. 22, 1947, she married S.C. Thetford of Pottsville. She was a wife and mother before joining the workforce in 1958. She worked for 35 years in the sewing industry.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, S.C. Thetford; her son, James Wayne Thetford; her parents and siblings.

Survivors include her sons, Dale Thetford and wife Pam of Stephenville and Floyd Thetford of Katy and daughter-in-law Barbara Thetford of Carlton; six grandchildren, Jamie Thetford of Dallas, Ward Thetford of Mesquite, Terri Waltz of Killeen, Stephen Thetford of Lake Charles, Louisiana, John Thetford of Rosenburg and Zack Thetford of Katy; and great-grandchildren Jared Thetford, Abby and Kaylee Waltz, Katelyn, Clara and Cannon Thetford.
