Hardy Morgan
Dr. Hardy Morgan died on Thursday, April 14, in Hamilton. He was 79 years old.
His family will celebrate his life on May 1 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Hico.
Dr. Morgan was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Slaton to John Hardy Morgan and Linda Blanche (Meek) Morgan. His home was on the family ranch at Carlton, “far from the frantic crowds,” and he spent most of his life there or nearby.
Dr. Morgan was a proud graduate of Hamilton High School, The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps in 1965. He practiced medicine for 10 years in Hico, nine years in San Angelo and nine years in Dallas.
He loved his family completely, believed in his faith deeply and gave to all around him joyfully. He was a physician, scholar, mentor and teacher.
He found particular joy in his 13 grandchildren, ge nealogy, cosmology, opera, Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs, polydactyl cats and discussing the concept of infinity with anyone interested.
He was preceded in death by three children, Daniel Morgan, John Joseph Morgan, and Samuel Grant Morgan; his brother, John Eldrid Morgan; his parents, John Hardy Morgan and Blanche Morgan Shank; and his grandparents, Hardy Morgan and Bessie Pearl (Andrus) Morgan.
Dr. Morgan is survived by four children, Margaret Steele (Jay Steele) of Flower Mound, James Morgan (Lindsey Morgan) of Fridley, Minnesota, Robert Morgan (Sarah Ciaccia) of Washington, D.C., and Thomas Morgan (Carley Morgan) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his sister, Margaret Purvis of Midland; and 13 grandchildren, Morgan Steele, Jason Steele, Eliana Morgan, John Hardy Morgan, Chaya Morgan, Hallelia Morgan, Noa Fay Morgan, William Morgan, Tobias Morgan, Eli Morgan, Audrey Morgan, Finn Morgan and Isaac Hardy Morgan.
