Garvine Atchley Geeslin Chumney
Garvine Atchley Geeslin Chumney, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Worth on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Riley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Murphree Cemetery in Evant following the services. She will be buried next to her mother, Allie Mae Atchley. Visitation will be prior to funeral services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Chumney was born Nov. 25, 1927, in Evant, the daughter of Earnest A. Atchley and Allie Mae Flippen Atchley, longtime residents of Hamilton County. She was one of five children. On Sept. 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ralph Leonard Geeslin of Vista Mountain and Shive, who preceded her in death May 1, 1976.
She later united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1982, to Billie Eldon Chumney of Evant, who preceded her in death July 28, 1992.
She was a devoted wife to her husbands, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Survivors include three children, Rita Jann Geeslin of Payson, Arizona, Timothy Lynn Geeslin of Arlington and Lee Geeslin of Arkansas; her sister, Lavada Atchley Jones Spruiell of Dawson; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Jones, Dylan Jones, Thomas Geeslin, Billy J. Warren, Tim Geeslin and Ronnie Adams.
