Frances Schrank
On the evening of Dec. 14, 2022, Frances Ruth (Kieschnick) Schrank passed away at home with her daughter and longtime caregiver at her side.
Visitation was Dec. 18 at St. John Lutheran Church. Graveside services were held in Aleman Lutheran Cemetery.
Frances was born April 21, 1928, in Aleman to Velma and Werner Kieschnick. She was baptized May 13, 1928, by Pastor E.F. Moerbe and confirmed by Pastor A. C. Liefer on March 29, 1942, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aleman.
After graduating Aleman High School, she lived in Oak Cliff, rooming with close friends and working in Dallas. On June 12, 1948, Frances married Raymond Schrank. They lived in Houston before moving back to Hamilton to raise their two children, Larry Glenn and Joan Elizabeth.
Frances was a woman of many talents. After the death of her husband, it was important to her to remain in the home with her children. She turned those talents into a business, sewing for the public and baking her famous cinnamon rolls.
She later worked at Garner- Alvis, Harelik’s Department Store, then Kay’s on the Square.
Everything was always in perfect order in her household, and all who entered departed well fed. She was an avid gardener, always growing the best of every vegetable and fruit.
She was the matriarch of our family, with the highest of expectations, guiding everyone to be successful. Her grandchildren lovingly called her Granny Fran and spent countless joyous days helping her harvest the garden, can vegetables, salsas and jams during the summertime. These are some of their fondest memories.
Frances took great pride in sewing the finest dresses for them and always baking their special cake for their birthdays.
She was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hamilton, and in her retirement she enjoyed Taco Thursdays and Catfish Fridays with friends and spending time with family.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, and son Larry. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Edins of Hamilton and husband Tim; granddaughters Alyssa Whaley and partner Robert Hasty of Bartonville, Brynnan Whaley and husband Kenneth Kolich of Austin and Maura Whaley of San Marcos; and great-grandchildren Bella Kerley, Bobbie Hasty and Levi Hasty of Bartonville.
