Eunice Mater

Eunice B. Mater, 99, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.

Services were held Feb. 12 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.

Mrs. Mater was born Oct. 8, 1919, in Shive in Hamilton County, the daughter of Eunice Ruth Redden and William Cloyd Rucker.

Her maternal grandparents, Ace James and Eunice Ann Cayce Redden, came to Texas in a wagon train from Illinois; her paternal grandparents, Robert Fields and Mary B. Hartfield Rucker, lived in Kentucky.

She married Charles Guy Mater Sept. 6, 1945. Throughout her almost 70 years living in San Antonio, she was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and Highland Terrace United Methodist Church. She was an employee of Highland Hills Pharmacy for 20 of those years.

She and Charles had two children, Bill Mater and wife Margie and Lisa Mater Simmons and husband Mark; grandchildren Brian Mater and wife Patty, Diana Mater Cass and husband Gary, Chris Simmons and David Simmons; and a great-grandson, Daniel Cass.
