Earl Kavanaugh
Earl D Kavanaugh, 94, of Hamilton passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Kavanaugh Ranch, 2229 CR 105, Hamilton. A graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at Kavanaugh Cemetery.
On Dec. 1, 1928, Earl Dwain Kavanaugh was born to Lawrence Kavanaugh and Orena Barnett Kavanaugh.
Earl lived in Hamilton County all his life, and in 1948, Earl and three of his friends joined the Marine Corps. He was in the Korean Conflict and Chosen Reservoir.
In 1950 he came back from California with his wife, Kitty Barnes. They had two children; Elaine and Stephen. Kitty passed away six years later.
On Sept. 12, 1959, he married Dorothy Streater. They had a daughter, Michelle.
Earl lived on the Leon River for the next 70 years. He was a rancher, avid arrowhead hunter and gardener. He took pride in his garden and loved to share his green thumb with his neighbors, friends and family. He also loved woodworking and building furniture. Earl loved deer season, fishing and Bluegrass in Pearl.
Earl always felt blessed to live and work on his land. He was an extraordinary man who lived an extraordinary life.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Katherine Barnes; his parents, Lawrence and Orena Kavanaugh; wife of 54 years, Dorothy Kavanaugh; granddaughter Jessica Fields; son Stephen Kavanaugh; and sister Maureen Watts.
He is survived by daughter Elaine Kavanaugh Jones; daughter Michelle Kavanaugh Moravec and husband Willie; daughter-in-law Brenda Kavanaugh; special friend Jean Ann Seale, who he thought was his daughter; great-grandkids Peyton and Connor Fields; niece Mary Watts; and his grand dog DOT, that he loved.
The family would especially like to thank the Amedisys Hospice. We could not have asked for a better team. They were the best - Shawmequa Edwards, Leslie Marshall and Reagan Kucera.
